8th Annual Horse Festival held at UAThe 8th Annual Horse Festival was held on March 31, 2007. The festival was a complete success with over 4,500 attendees throughout the day on Saturday. The festival is a fund raising event which helps support the D.E. King Equine Program. The event's proceeds were double over last year's festival.
Mission Accomplished with 'Operation Xmas Stockings for Soldiers' DriveAnimal Science Department faculty, staff and graduate students joined in 'Operation Xmas Stockings for Soldiers Drive' by donating useful items and other goodies for soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division 3-187 Infantry Battalion, a deployed U.S. military unit serving in Iraq.

Razorback Roundup 2007The UofA D.E. King Equine Program’s annual Razorback Roundup Horse and Tack Sale was held November 17 at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center.
Kiss the Pig contestThe Animal Science Department held its holiday party on Dec. 4, 2006 and the "Kiss the Pig" contest winners were announced.
Joint Annual meeting of ADSA-ASAS to be held July 7-11 in IndianapolisANSC department faculty members and graduate assistants will be in attendance at the joint annual meeting of ADSA-ASAS (American Dairy Science Association and American Society of Agricultural Scientists) to be held July 7-11 in Indianapolis.
Southern Association of Agricultural ScientistsThe Animal Science Department was well represented at the Association of Agricultural Scientists meeting held in February in Dallas.
Professor Receives Animal Management Award Charles V. Maxwell, Jr., a professor of swine nutrition and management in the UA Animal Science Department, received the 2007 Animal Management Award at the annual meeting of the American Society of Animal Scientists held on July 9 in San Antonio.
New FacultyWelcome Dr. Dirk Philipp to the faculty. He fills the position formerly held by Dr. Wayne Coblentz and will focus his extension and research on livestock and water quality issues. He will become part of the team at the new Watershed Research and Extension Center.
Department of Animal Science Awards and Scholarship LuncheonThe Department of Animal Science hosted its annual awards and scholarship luncheon April 16 in the AFLS atrium on the University of Arkansas campus.
Dr. Nancy Jack Receives AwardsDr. Nancy Jack, assistant professor in Animal Science, received the Jack Justus Award for Teaching Excellence and the John W. White Award for Outstanding Teaching for 2007
