UA Equine Science students with Smarty Jones, winner of the 2004 Kentucky Derby

UA Equine Science students participated in a semester-long, in-depth look at the Thoroughbred industry. They visited Lexington, KY. at semester's end, and were given private tours of top Thoroughbred stallion farms including Three Chimneys, Ashford, Darley, Gainesway, and Juddmonte. They visited world famous vet clinic Rood and Riddle, where they watched Dr. Larry Bramlage, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS perform surgery. They toured KESMARC Rehab Center, visited the Secretariat Center, met with Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra's former trainer, Hal Wiggins, and were given a tour of historic Calumet Farm by manager Bill Witman.
